Meghan Jacobs

Meghan Jacobs: Executive Director

Civil Engineering

Meghan Jacobs is a Senior from Milford, Michigan, majoring in Civil Engineering and minoring in Program in Sustainable Engineering and Urban Studies. She is concentrating in Construction Management. In addition to the Tech Day Planning Committee, Meghan is a Michigan Engineering Zone Mentor and a Student Coordinator at Mosher-Jordan Dining Hall. She enjoys running and reading in her spare time. She likes to spend time outdoors and visit new places.

Kiera Soraghan

Kiera Soraghan: External Director

Chemical Engineering

Kiera is a sophomore from Dearborn, Michigan majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in German. Outside of the Tech Day Planning Committee, Kiera is part of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, and spending time with her friends.

Joy Chang

Joy Chang: Internal Director

Industrial and Operations Engineering

Joy  Chang is a junior from Detroit, Michigan majoring in Industrial and Operations Engineering. Joy is involved with the Olive Tree Campus Fellowship (OTCF)  in addition to Tech Day at the University of Michigan. When she is not studying, Joy enjoys running outside in the freezing cold Michigan winter.

Chemical Engineering

Caitlyn Hines is a junior from Olivet, Michigan, majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Intergroup Relations Education.  Outside of Tech Day, Caitlyn is involved in the Society of Women Engineers, Out in STEM, and the Journal for Young Investigators.  She works for the Center for Educational Outreach, and does sustainability research in the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning.  In her free time, Caitlyn enjoys drinking coffee, telling puns, and long runs around North Campus.

Alyssa Blunt

Alyssa Blunt: Finance Director

Mechanical Engineering

Alyssa is a junior from Dearborn Heights, MI. She is majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Outside of Tech Day, she tutors Physics and Calculus, is involved in SWE, and does Pediatric Head Injury Assessment Research at the Transportation Research Institute. In her free time, she likes to spend time with friends and family, catch up on TV shows, and bake.

Computer Science Engineering

Shwetha Rajaram is a freshman from Ann Arbor, Michigan, planning to major in Computer Science Engineering. Besides being on the Tech Day planning committee, she is involved with the Society of Women Engineers, gEECS, and FEMMES. In her free time, Shwetha enjoys doing anything art-related, playing the violin, watching baby animal videos, and reading.

Ellen Rombach is a freshman from Saginaw, MI, planning on studying mechanical engineering. Outside of Tech Day, she is a member of SWE, CCC and the WISE Residential Program. She enjoys going Up North, eating chicken alfredo, petting puppies and reading (for fun!).

Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering

Mikaela is a junior from Plymouth, Michigan, majoring in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Outside of Tech Day, Mikaela works at Panera Bread. When Mikaela isn’t studying, she can be found on her couch Netflixing or if she’s feeling adventurous, rock climbing at Planet Rock.

Stephanie is a sophomore from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, studying Computer Science Engineering. Outside of Tech Day, Stephanie is a mentor and study group facilitator in the Michigan Research Community, a member of the Society of Women Engineers, and has done research at the UM Medical School. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys walking in the Arb, baking, and playing tennis. She is looking forward to studying abroad next summer.

Abby Ranks

Chemical Engineering

Abby is a junior studying Chemical Engineering. She grew up in Novi, Michigan and was a Tech Day visiter twice in high school. On campus, she is involved with the Women in Science and Engineering Residence Program, a co-ed community service fraternity, Kgrams pen pal program and Alternative Spring Break. When Abby isn’t busy with school or extracurriculars, she like to spend time with her friends, read, and take Buzzfeed quizzes!

Melissa Cadena

Biomedical Engineering

Melissa is a junior from Queens, New York studying Biomedical Engineering, with a biochemical concentration. Besides Tech Day, Melissa is involved in the Society of Women Engineers, is a member of Alpha Phi Omega – a co-ed community service fraternity, volunteers at Mott Children’s Hospital, and does research on nanoscaled drug delivery systems. You’ll most likely catch Melissa with an iced coffee in her hands (even in the winter), studying, or watching a ridiculous amount of Grey’s Anatomy or Game of Thrones.

Joanna Ciatti

Chemical Engineering

Joanna is a junior currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering with a minor in chemistry.  She spends much of her time in a chemistry research laboratory on campus and is active in the engineering honor society, Tau Beta Pi.  She can be heard describing her life as “coffee-fueled” and attributes her success to her work ethic.  If she isn’t in lab or a meeting, you can most likely find Joanna in the gym channeling her inner beast mode or laughing with her friends.  Joanna hails from Farmington Hills, MI and is passionate about green energy and all things cute.

Chemical Engineering

Rachel is a junior from Medina, Ohio majoring in chemical engineering. Outside of planning committee she is involved in University Musical Society, on the student committee and as a member of the choral union. She also spends her time volunteering for Society of Women Engineers and working as a tour leader in the College of Engineering Admissions office. When not camping out in the library, Rachel enjoys sleeping, Netflix bingeing Gilmore Girls, and making anything under the sun that involves chocolate.

David Martel Profile Picture

David Martel

Biomedical and Electrical Engineering

David is a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering, with undergraduate degrees in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering, from Grand Blanc, Michigan. As a PhD student, he spends most of his time in the lab developing a tinnitus treatment, understanding the electrophysiology of the cochlear nucleus, developing other neural technologies and doing signal processing shenanigans. Apart from Tech Day, David is involved with Tau Beta Pi, the Boy Scouts of America, and follows the Michigan Photography Club on Facebook!

Biomedical Engineering

Andrew is a junior from Novi, Michigan, majoring in Biomedical Engineering. Outside of Tech Day, Andrew is involved in clinical research focused on diet and exercise, and volunteers regularly in the Emergency Department at UMHS. He also spent a week volunteering in Harlan County, Kentucky through Alternative Spring Break, and spent 6 weeks studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. In his free time, Andrew likes to hit the links at the U of M Golf Course.

Garrett Zuck

Garrett Zuck

Aerospace Engineering

Garrett is a sophomore from Munster, Indiana, which he thinks is practically a Chicago suburb. He is majoring in Aerospace Engineering and plans to pursue a minor in Computer Science as well as the International Minor for Engineers. In fact, he just got back from studying engineering abroad in Madrid, Spain. On football Saturdays, Garrett can be seen performing with the Michigan Marching Band Drumline. During the week, if he isn’t studying or at band practice, Garrett is probably hanging out with friends, practicing drumming on his own, or eating copious amounts of dining hall cookies.

Ainsley Ashman Jr.

Mechanical Engineering

Ainsley Ashman Jr., A.J. for short, is a sophomore Mechanical Engineer at the University of Michigan. This is his first year planning Tech Day and he looks forward to many more spent helping plan this event. A.J. is involved in student government, volunteerism, and some student design teams here on campus. He enjoys hanging out with friends, watching movies, playing football and, as with all Michigan engineers, can often be found spending seemingly countless hours in the Duderstadt Center studying.

Swetha is a sophomore from Ann Arbor, Michigan studying biomedical engineering. Outside of Tech Day, she is involved with the Society of Women Engineers and Engineering Student Government. She is also a pen pal! In her free time, Swetha likes to spend time with family and friends, dance, watch soccer, and eat chocolate chip cookie dough.

Computer Engineering

Ahmad is an incoming sophomore studying Computer Engineering. Having formative years in both Washington, D.C. and Detroit, Michigan, he plans to minor in Entrepreneurship and possibly do the International Minor. He studied engineering across cultures in San Sebastian, Spain during summer 2016. For fun he likes to play soccer(intramural) and basketball at the rec buildings on campus. He also enjoys traveling and studying languages (such as Spanish and Arabic), as well as studying culture.

Minh is a sophomore studying Computer Science. Aside from helping with Tech Day, he also works for CAEN by assisting the College of Engineering with technical problems. During the summer, he had a great experience studying abroad in China. In his spare time, he likes to play soccer and practice the guitar.

Lawrence Wu

Computer Science Engineering

Lawrence is a sophomore studying Computer Science Engineering. He grew up in Troy, Michigan and was deeply involved in mathematics from an early age. He is currently working on competitive programming, web development, and learning algorithms. At UM, he is involved in Rock Climbing Club and Project Euler Club.

Associate Director, Recruitment and Admissions

Bryan is an alumnus of the University of Michigan from Detroit, MI. He is the Associate Director of Recruitment and Admissions for the College of Engineering as well as a Tech Day Advisor alongside Kara Leslie. When he is not recruiting for the College of Engineering, Bryan is often found running around Ann Arbor or exploring the great state of Michigan.

Kara is an alumnus of Oakland University from Clarkston, Michigan. She is a Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator for the College of Engineering as well as a Tech Day Advisor alongside Bryan Enochs. In her free time, Kara enjoys exploring local Ann Arbor eateries and coffee shops.
